I read the article "After School Programs Foster STEM Skills." In this article it talks about how after school activities and programs can help students in the 4 aspects of STEM. Students feel less pressured when doing these after school things because it is not graded and you can learn in your own type of way.
STEM is very important in learning. You need to do problem solving, and use a lot of thinking to get through the problems. Doing this ties in things that people want to be apart of. If children are having fun learning they are more likely to work harder. After school activities increase the chance for children to be able to get chances at trying new things. In overview of the idea of after school learning, kids are more likely to succeed in it because they do not feel pressured about the grade they will receive. They have the choice in doing what they want to do rather than being told what they can do. This helps kids express themselves.
